Our speaker for 22nd annual Butler A. Jones lecture will be award-winning theorist, author, and social justice activist, Patricia Hill Collins. Her lecture is titled “From Civil Rights to Black Lives Matter: Gender, Sexuality and Black Social Movements.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Collins is Distinguished University Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland. She has published several award-winning books, and was the 100th President of the American Sociological Association, the first African American woman elected to this position in the organization\u2019s 104-year history.<\/p>\n
