Experimental surgery has been performed on Algernon increasing his intelligence fourfold. The operation is tried on Charlie, who rapidly changes from an IQ of 68 to a genius level, far more intelligent than Charlie’s teacher or the doctors who created the operating technique. As Charlie approaches the peak of brilliance, Algernon shows frightening symptoms of regression. This play comments on how society views intelligence and the treatment of individuals who do not fit into society’s pre-determined boxes. This show is poignant, romantic, funny, and tragic, but with hope of Charlie’s indomitable spirit and kindness, we can all learn to love who we are.

The show will run about 50 minutes.
