Flowers for Algernon is a one act show I will be directing as my senior theatre project and I am looking for other OWU students to participate!<\/p>\n
Flowers for Algernon is a one act play that follows Charlie Gordon, a non neurotypical individual, and the strange interweaving of Charlie\u2019s life with that of Algernon, a lab mouse. Experimental surgery has been performed on Algernon increasing his intelligence fourfold. The operation is tried on Charlie, who rapidly changes from an IQ of 68 to a genius level, far more intelligent than Charlie\u2019s teacher or the doctors who created the operating technique. As Charlie approaches the peak of brilliance, Algernon shows frightening symptoms of regression. . This show is poignant, romantic, funny, and tragic, but with hope of Charlie\u2019s indomitable spirit and kindness, we can all learn to love who we are.<\/p>\n
Auditions will be held September 3rd from 3:30-7:00 PM in room 008 in Chappelear Drama Center. Sign ups will be posted on the callboard outside of the office in the theater.<\/p>\n
For the audition, please prepare a short, dramatic monologue. It does not need to be memorized.. You will find audition forms next to the sign ups, please fill that out before the audition.<\/p>\n
No previous experience is necessary, so I encourage everyone that is interested to come on by and audition!<\/p>\n
