Today – Police on Campus for OWU Training Exercise; You’re Invited

Delaware Police Department officers, as well as city firefighters and Emergency Management Agency personnel, will be on campus from approximately 6-8 p.m. today, Nov. 29, to participate in active threat/emergency lay response training with the campus community.

This training will be held in the Benes Rooms and is open to everyone. The training will begin with a 30-minute “Run, Hide, Fight” presentation by OWU Public Safety Investigator Richard Morman, followed by an emergency scenario acted out by the OWU Pre-Health Club.

The scenario will be followed by discussions with police officers, who will assemble on the JAYwalk in advance of the drill in order to arrive with lights and sirens activated.

City firefighters and paramedics also will be on hand to discuss how to help victims injured during an emergency situation, and Emergency Management Agency personnel will discuss its role in coordinating the response to larger-scale emergencies.

I hope you will consider joining us for this event. For more personal safety information, including OWU’s Active Threat protocols, visit www.owu.edu/safety.

Thank you for your time and attention.
