Jim Fowler -Asst. Prof. Mathematics, Ohio State University – “Creativity in Mathematics” is not merely a wrench, mathematics is a triumph of humanity. The application of mathematics is not so much to the real-world as it is to human understanding, which means mathematics isn’t about getting “answers” to “what?” problems, but about communicating the “solution” to a “why?” question. In this talk, we’ll discuss a few concrete examples of this creative side of mathematics. No previous mathematical experience is expected.
