The Department of English and Poets & Writers Series is proud to welcome award winning author Kerry Howley, author of THROWN, a New York Times’ Notable Book of 2014, NPR’s Best Book of 2014, Time Magazine’s #2 Nonfiction Book of the Year, Salon’s Critics’ Choice Top 10 Books of 2014, and a Slate staff pick for Best Book of the Year. THROWN is a darkly comic account of three years spent in the company of MMA fighters (mixed martial artists) narrated from the perspective of an excitable, semi-fictionalized graduate student. Howley will be reading from THROWN at 4:10 p.m. in Merrick #301.
