Nieves Romero-Díaz, Ph.D., professor of Spanish at Mount Holyoke College, discusses the complex relations with space of noblewomen in early modern Spain. Specifically, how Luisa de Carvajal y Mendoza (1566-1614) and María de Guevara (ca.1620-1683) gave meaning to the physical and symbolic spaces they lived in.
