Honors Board Professor Lecture Series: Professor Eva Paris-Huesca on Oct. 20

As part of the Honors Board’s ongoing Professor Workshop Series, Professor Eva Paris-Huesca says that her workshop “will focus on the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and its aftermath through two Spanish movies: The Spirit of the Beehive (Víctor Erice, 1973) and Pan’s Labyrinth (Guillermo Del Toro, 2006). We will analyze two very different allegorical ways to represent the horrors of the immediate post-war and the traumatic consequences of almost 40 years of Franco’s dictatorial regime, through the lens of censorship and democracy.”
