Dr. Gloria Scott, 1st African American president, GSUSA Lecture on Feb. 23

The Leadership Contribution of Girls and Women of Color to Girl Scouting.

Dr. Gloria Scott made history in 1975 when she became the first African American president of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. Scott is the former president of Bennett College, where she created and founded the Women’s Leadership Institute. Featured in “I Dream a World: Portraits of Black Women Who Changed America,”today Scott is the president/owner of G. Randle Services, focusing on empowerment of leadership for women/girls. Scott’s visit is a result of Shelli Reeves’ Theory to Practice project examining the history of the Black Girl Scouts movement in US 20th century history.

Free and open to the public.
