April 5 – Dr. Laurie Webster, “Prehistoric Southwest Style”

Join us on April 5 for an illustrated talk titled “Southwest Style: Clothing Diversity and Social Identities in the Prehistoric Southwest” presented by Dr. Laurie Webster, University of Arizona and Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. Laurie will highlight major clothing styles, weaving techniques and decoration of ancient Southwestern dress and explore how these garments conveyed messages of status, gender and cultural affiliation.

Laurie oversees the Cedar Mesa Perishables Project, which has studied over 4,000 Basketmaker and Pueblo objects taken from southeast Utah in the 1890s.
