Bike Patrol Training June 4-10 to Impact Athletic Facility Parking Lots

The 2017 International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) Conference — widely considered the premier training and testing event for public safety cyclists — will bring more than 300 officers to campus June 4-10.

The officers will stay in Stuyvesant Hall and use both Hamilton-Williams Campus Center and the R.W. Corns Building for classes, meetings, and meals. Event vendors will be set up around the JAYwalk, and the officers will train in three OWU parking lots, which will be closed at the following times for their use:

  • Jay Martin Soccer Complex parking lot, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 4-9.
  • Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center parking lot, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 5-9.
  • Selby Stadium parking lot, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 5-9.

The officers also periodically will use other areas in and around campus, including stairs, hills, and other features. Please note the officers are required to be in full uniform during all training exercises, and “Police Training in Progress” signs will be posted as appropriate.

Thank you for your patience as Ohio Wesleyan hosts these officers and helps to ensure that they are trained to provide the best public service available. We’re excited to bring this conference to campus after nearly five years of collaborating with the Delaware Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.
