Beginning fall semester, OWU will offer Arabic 110 (fall) and Arabic 111 (spring) through the Modern Foreign Languages Department. The courses will provide a new option for students seeking to complete their basic foreign language requirement and also support the new Middle Eastern Studies major.
We’re working to arrange for a professor of Spanish and Arabic Translation at the University of El Cairo, Egypt, to join us for one year this fall as a part-time faculty member.
These first-year Arabic courses will emphasize four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while also introducing students to the cultures of the Arabic-speaking world. Both formal (Modern Standard Arabic) and colloquial Arabic will be taught simultaneously.
We hope you will consider these courses when you register for classes. Thank you.
