IS Tech Tip: How to Identify Phishing Messages

Phishing scams are fraudulent emails, phone calls, or text messages that try to entice you to divulge private information. Be skeptical if an email contains any of the following:

Hyperlinks within emails.
Spelling errors in the email address or a different email than the providers other emails.
Generic references to yourself like “Hello User,”
Emails that instill panic, give deadlines, or give dire warning.
Generic salutations like “from IT administrators”
