Memorial Service for Dr. Lance Today

The memorial service for Dr. Kim Allan Lance will be held at 4 p.m. today, Nov. 11, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 55 W. Lincoln Avenue, Delaware.

Dr. Lance’s widow, Judy, and their children, James, Marie, and Paul, wish to invite everyone to attend and then stay afterward for a covered dish/potluck dinner. During the meal, friends and family will be invited to share a favorite memory of the 28-year OWU faculty member.

In 2014, Dr. Lance discussed his teaching as part of the Heritage Day Celebration of “No Higher Honor: A Half-Century of Celebrated Teaching Faculty.”

“I’m a strong subscriber of education (being) what you know when the test is over,” he said in an interview with professor emerita Dr. Louise Musser. … “And so, I have structured all my teaching to (support) that teaching philosophy. …”

Watch the complete interview on YouTube and visit the OWU Facebook post to read the many heartfelt tributes shared in his memory.

If you are unable to attend Dr. Lance’s services, please know that Peale Chapel is always open to you, including all day today, with Chaplain’s Office and Counseling staff available for anyone seeking additional support. Please continue to keep Dr. Lance’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
