City Work to Impact Edwards Parking Lot Beginning June 27

Parking Advisory:

Please note the City of Delaware expects storm sewer replacement work to begin Monday, June 27, in the Edwards Parking Lot area. Starting that day, the south side of the parking lot will be closed and all remaining parking on the north side of the lot will be reserved for guests visiting the Office of Admission.

The Edwards lot also will be closed at its eastern edge near the clock tower. Drivers will need to use the Wilmer Street entrance near South Henry Street to access the Schimmel/Conrades Science Center parking lot and/or the handicap parking spaces near Elliott Hall. The “Series A” parking spaces just outside Sturges Hall will be closed during the construction.

After the city completes its work, all parking guidelines outlined above will remain in place until Monday, August 15, to allow the University to complete construction projects at the Edwards lot entrance and surrounding area, including work to improve sidewalks, curbs, and concrete. We also plan to repave and stripe the lot as we prepare for the 2016-17 academic year to get underway.

In addition to the Schimmel/Conrades lot, motorists are invited to park this summer in any legal campus space at the R.W. Corns Building, Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center, Selby Stadium, Phillips Hall, etc.

Please note, too, that beginning today, Monday, June 20, the city will close South Sandusky Street between Spring and William streets through June 30 for bridge deck rehabilitation at the Delaware Run. Detour signs will be in place, but sidewalks will remain open during the construction.

On behalf of the city and the University, thank you for your time and attention and for respecting the need to reserve the Edwards lot for Admission guests as we continue to improve the campus and work toward our 2020 goals.
