Butler A. Jones Lecture on Race and Society on Feb. 16

From Civil Rights to Black Lives Matter: Gender, Sexuality and Black Social Movements.

Our speaker for 22nd annual Butler A. Jones lecture will be award-winning theorist, author, and social justice activist, Patricia Hill Collins. Her lecture is titled “From Civil Rights to Black Lives Matter: Gender, Sexuality and Black Social Movements.”

Dr. Collins is Distinguished University Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland. She has published several award-winning books, and was the 100th President of the American Sociological Association, the first African American woman elected to this position in the organization’s 104-year history.
