Per the Department of Education, the IRS Retrieval Option on the FAFSA will not be available for the 2017-2018 FAFSA.
“In an update on Thursday, the Department of Education (ED) said that the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) will be out of service for several months, advising that “students and families should plan for the tool to be offline until the start of the next FAFSA season,” which starts in October. The tool, which was disabled in early March, was taken down by the IRS due to security concerns.” Students can use their 2016-2017 FAFSA or 2015 Taxes to complete their FAFSA.
