Join Main Street Delaware for this month\u2019s First Friday celebration from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 4. The event will include the official unveiling of the Rutherford B. Hayes statue during a ceremony from 6:30-7:15 p.m. at the corner of William and Sandusky streets.<\/p>\n

Born on October 4, 1822, Hayes became a successful lawyer in Cincinnati, defending runaway slaves, was wounded four times during his service in the Civil War, was elected to the U.S. Congress and later as Ohio\u2019s Governor, and ultimately served as the 19th President of the United States from\u00a01877-1881. The Oct. 4 First Friday celebration also will feature fire trucks and firefighters and a free Baptiste yoga class with nationally known instructor and wounded warrior Dan Nevins. Although the 7:30 p.m. class is free, those who wish to attend are asked to register online at\u00a0www.thewonderwithin.com<\/a>\u00a0as space is limited. And don\u2019t forget to bring your mat!<\/p>\n
