{"id":128629,"date":"2025-11-03T08:00:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T13:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.owu.edu\/daily\/?p=128629"},"modified":"2025-11-03T08:17:05","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T13:17:05","slug":"nov-5-415-p-m-visiting-writer-martha-park-reading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.owu.edu\/daily\/nov-5-415-p-m-visiting-writer-martha-park-reading\/","title":{"rendered":"Nov. 5 @ 4:15 p.m. &#8211; Visiting Writer Martha Park Reading"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, Nov. 5,\u00a0 4:15-5:15 p.m. in the Milligan Room of Slocum Hall<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The English Department Visiting Writers Series welcomes Martha Park &#8217;11 to give a reading from her new book, <em>World Without End, <\/em>an illustrated collection of essays exploring the intersections of faith, motherhood, and the climate crisis across the South.<\/p>\n<p>Park received an MFA from the Jackson Center for Creative Writing at Hollins University and fellowships or support from the Religion &amp; Environment Story Project, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, and Bucknell University&#8217;s Stadler Center for Poetry. Her collaborative illustrated journalism won an EPPY Award for Best Use of Data\/Infographics and was a finalist for the Institute for Nonprofit News&#8217; Insight Award for Visual Journalism. Her writing, graphic essays, and illustrations have appeared in <em>Orion,<\/em> <em>Oxford American, The Guardian, Guernica, The Bitter Southerner, Granta,\u00a0Ecotone, ProPublica,<\/em> and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The reading will be followed by a Q&amp;A and a book signing.
