Ohio Wesleyan will send out an OWU Alert emergency message only in the event of a tornado <em>warning<\/em> when immediate action is required. The University will not send an OWU Alert for a tornado <em>watch<\/em>, which indicates favorable conditions but no detected tornadic activity.<\/p>\n<p>Also, please note the <em>outdoor warning siren protocol<\/em>. During a tornado warning, sirens will sound for three minutes, repeating every 10 minutes, until the warning expires. There is no all-clear signal.<\/p>\n<p>During a tornado warning, the safest place to shelter is in a basement or windowless interior room on the lowest level of a building.
