{"id":123219,"date":"2024-10-23T08:00:07","date_gmt":"2024-10-23T12:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.owu.edu\/daily\/?p=123219"},"modified":"2024-10-22T14:09:16","modified_gmt":"2024-10-22T18:09:16","slug":"former-staff-member-pam-besel-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.owu.edu\/daily\/former-staff-member-pam-besel-passes-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Staff Member Pam Besel Passes Away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are sad to share that former OWU staff member Pam Besel passed away Oct. 20 in Upper Arlington, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Her family shares that Pam lived a full and giving life while dealing with Type 1 diabetes before she \u201cjoined her family, friends, and met her golden retrievers and miscellaneous pets at the rainbow bridge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pam worked at Ohio Wesleyan for 34 years, serving under four presidents between 1981 and 2015. Throughout her decades-long career, Pam served in roles that included serving as the editor and senior writer for the award-winning OWU Magazine, helping to plan the University\u2019s annual Mother\u2019s Day commencements, and contributing her expertise to countless publications and public relations projects.<\/p>\n<p>Pam\u2019s family also shares that, for much of her life, she enjoyed avid and active tennis at the Olympic Racquet Club and Northam Park, typically captaining and organizing matches.<\/p>\n<p>Please join us in offering our sincere condolences on Pam\u2019s passing to her husband of 50 years, Mark; their daughter, Megan Adair \u201900, and all of Pam\u2019s many family members and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services for Pamela Dennis Besel will be held at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 23, at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, 334 S.
