This $2,500 award will be given to a student to facilitate student-faculty research collaboration during the summer of 2024. Completed applications are due in the Department of Economics and Business office by 4 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024. Conditions for applications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>student must be a declared major in Accounting, Business, Economics, Management Economics, Finance, Finance Economics, Quantitative Economics, or International Business<\/li>\n<li>applications must be jointly submitted by a student and faculty member<\/li>\n<li>students may only submit one application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This award is given to a student selected to assist a professor in conducting faculty-led research.\u00a0 This summer, the following faculty are willing to consider student research assistants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MacLeod is interested in working with someone who wants to do financial analysis on a relatively new venture.<\/li>\n<li>Bryan is interested in working with a student to research in the area of marketplace trust.<\/li>\n<li>Younkman is interested in working with a student who wants to assist in the financial modeling, analysis, and valuation of a publicly traded company, as well as some introduction and exposure to derivative trading, hedging, and portfolio management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, you are free to approach other departmental faculty to see if they could use assistance. A complete application will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the student\u2019s\u00a0<strong>unofficial<\/strong>\u00a0transcript and a resume<\/li>\n<li>a 2-3 page research proposal addressing the following points:<\/li>\n<li>the proposed research topic<\/li>\n<li>the proposed time line of the research project<\/li>\n<li>the proposed methodology of the research project<\/li>\n<li>the expected research outcome (e.g., paper, database, presentation)<\/li>\n<li>a mini-literature review on the proposed topic<\/li>\n<li>a student statement about the student\u2019s motivation for this project and how the project fits within the student\u2019s course of study<\/li>\n<li>a brief comment from the collaborating faculty member (confidential \u2013 for review committee only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OWU Sponsoring Organization\/Office: Department of Economics and Business<br \/>\nContact: Goran Skosples at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ggskospl@owu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ggskospl@owu.edu<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Norman Leonard Research Award honoring student-faculty research collaboration.
