Snyder<\/strong>, U.S. foreign policy\u00a0 historian, to campus where she will discuss\u00a0<strong>&#8220;When, How and Why Has the United States Put Human Rights &#8216;at the Center&#8217; of its Foreign Policy?&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0As early as\u00a0 Thomas Jefferson&#8217;s 1776 Declaration of Independence, Americans discussed their &#8220;rights&#8221; and those of others.\u00a0 Yet, attention to human rights has been mixed historically, despite the leading role that an American, Eleanor Roosevelt, played in drafting the United Nations&#8217; Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.\u00a0 \u00a0We hope you can attend as Snyder shares about the history of U.S. human rights policy and how they have been put &#8220;at the center&#8221; of its foreign policy in the subsequent 60 years.
