You’re invited: Two classes taught by Dr. Nestor, the Congress and Environmental Policy classes, are participating in a Congressional Hearing Simulation on Tuesday, 3\/29\/22 at 6 PM on the third floor of Merrick Hall. The topic of the simulated hearing is “America\u2019s Energy Security & Independence in Light of International & Domestic Threats.” Students in the Congress class are portraying members of Congress, providing opening remarks and asking questions of witnesses. Legislators portrayed on the task force include Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Troy Balderson, Rep. Tim Ryan, Rep. Joyce Beatty, Rep. Jim Jordan, and more. Witnesses are portrayed by students in the Environmental Policy class, who will provide testimony and answer legislator questions. “Witness” roles being portrayed include US Special Envoy for the Climate John Kerry, climate activist Greta Thunberg, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, and more.
