Where Can I Find Jobs & Internships?

Hey everyone,

A lot of people approach me asking about ways to find jobs and internships. Most of the time I talk about each tool/service that Career Services has to offer, but most end up either forgetting or not using them for whatever reason. I’m going to describe each of our main, online internship/job services so you can get a better idea of what they are and how to take full advantage of them.

  1. BishopLink – A website with job and internship listings from around the country. You have the ability to search by keywords, organization name, industry, job category, position type, and location. Also here is The Bishop Network, where students can search for alumni, parents, and friends of OWU who have volunteered to be guides to assist students in any way necessary. Remember, networking is key!
  2. GOINGLOBAL – This service offers country career guides, USA/Canada city guides, H-1B information, an employer directory, and job and internship listings from around the world. If you are interested in working overseas or studying abroad, this is a useful website to find available positions in the city of your choosing. It also lists openings in the United States so take advantage of it!
  3. Summer on the Cuyahoga (SOTC) – SOTC is a unique summer internship program open to students of select schools, including OWU. The summer immersion program is based in Cleveland and offers students internships, community introductions, alumni connections, and free housing at Cleveland State University. The program still has many available open positions for this upcoming summer, so visit www.summeronthecuyahoga.com to register for an account and apply today!

Keep an eye out for “Job Hunters”, a weekly listing of internships and full-time opportunities in specific areas. It appears in OWU Daily and emails are sent out to applicable departments based on the job area for that week. Posters are also displayed in the HWCC lobby, Beeghly library, and applicable academic buildings.

For more information about any of our tools or to meet with a career counselor, visit the office in HWCC 324 during open student hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hopefully this helps some of you find positions for the summer. Best of luck on your search!

– Jimmy
