Biography

Goes beyond technical skill in the classroom to cultivate a profound appreciation for art’s power to transform and inspire. Passion extends into the heart of diverse communities; leads initiatives that nurture community through collective experiences. Leverages advocacy skills to create a platform for survivor voices, drive systemic change, and cultivate a culture of empathy and understanding. Strives to contribute to the healing and empowerment of survivors through proactive engagement and collaborative initiatives, fostering a community that thrives beyond adversity.”

Mary Kate is particularly suited for assisting with studio art majors, students interested in graduate school, or students hoping to become teachers. At Ohio Wesleyan, Mary Kate received a Bachelor of Fine Arts: Painting, Photography, and Ceramics. At OWU, Mary Kate was also involved in the Student Led Art Movement (SLAM), Empower OWU, and was a member of the Track & Field and Cross Country teams.

Mary Kate graduated with her Master of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University in 2024. Now, she is an entrepreneur, with her own photography and live wedding painting business and she is also working with the Survivor Advocacy Office as a graduate assistant. She is beginning her Master of Social Work program in the fall of 2024.

Mary Kate is open to supporting any students or alumni in the OWU Community with the following:

  • Speaking with a student virtually or on the phone
  • Presenting to a class in-person
  • Presenting to a student organization
  • Conducting a virtual webinar
  • Mentoring a student
  • Assisting OWU Alumni (recent Alumni, or Alumni in transition)
  • Serving as a resume-reviewer for OWU students and/or Alumni
  • Participating in OWU events such as speed networking, mock interviewing, panels, etc.
  • Hosting a student for an externship or shadowing experience
  • Hosting a “Career Trek/visit” with a group of students & OWU staff
