Cienna Baka ’23

Student Physical Therapist Regis University
Denver, CO

Biography

Cienna is a 2nd year Doctorate of Physical Therapy Student at Regis University. Prior to her acceptance, she completed over 100 observation hours in a variety of physical therapy settings. She also went through the PTCAS application on her own, which she states caused her a lot of frustration. Cienna wants to assist other students who might be in that same position searching for clinical opportunities to observe, as well as those just trying to get through applications for school.

A little bit about Cienna: She was a competitive figure skater for over 10 years before she suffered serious injuries. She was no longer able to compete at the high levels, so she had to change her path. Cienna learned how to share her passion of the sport with others through coaching. She loves working with people both individually and in groups. She wants to make an important difference in peoples lives, like her physical therapist did for her back then when she had to quit skating competitively. Cienna learned how to empower those around her and become a leader through her time at OWU. Now, she is able to apply those skills that she developed to her teaching, coaching, and future practice.

Cienna is passionate about helping First Generation Students, Individuals with Disability, and Asian/Asian-American students. She looks forward to being contacted by anyone interested in graduate school, as well as first generation students by:

  • Speaking with a student virtually or on the phone
  • Presenting to a student organization
  • Conducting a virtual webinar
  • Mentoring a student
  • Assisting OWU Alumni (recent Alumni, or Alumni in transition)
  • Participating in OWU events such as speed networking, mock interviewing, panels, etc.

During her time at OWU, Cienna was involved in Mortar Board, Delta Zeta, Equestrian Team, Ultimate Frisbee Team, the Campus Programming Board, and the Panhellenic Council.
