Biography

Rachel Vinciguerra (she/her) leads the Hello Neighbor Network, a coalition of grassroots organizations working with refugees and immigrants across the U.S. convened by Hello Neighbor. She has grown the Network to over 100 affiliate organizations across the country and partnered to distribute over $140,000 to community leaders through Resilience Grants since coming into the role. She has worked with nonprofit and international organizations for the past eight years focused on gender equity, social inclusion, and program design and evaluation. She has lived and worked in countries including Haiti, Thailand, and India. And worked with organizations including the United Nations Development Programme, Strong Women, Strong Girls, and The FISA Foundation. She currently serves on the boards of the Jane Addams Peace Association, The Birmingham Foundation, and Write to Be (a girls’ empowerment nonprofit she co-founded in Haiti). Rachel has a bachelor’s degree in history from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master of International Development and Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. A Boston native, Rachel has made Pittsburgh her home and was recently named one of Pittsburgh’s 30 Under 30. She is also a writer, children’s book author, yoga instructor, and cancer survivor. She lives in Pittsburgh with her partner and their cat and chickens. Her place of employment (Hello Neighbor) does offer internships in Pittsburgh, PA, and she is happy to talk to anyone who is interested.

She is happy to be contacted by any interested student or Alum, especially those interested in social justice, sociology, public service and the arts and offer support by:

  • Speaking with a student virtually or on the phone
  • Presenting to a class in-person
  • Presenting to a student organization
  • Conducting a virtual webinar
  • Mentoring a student
  • Assisting OWU Alumni (recent Alumni, or Alumni in transition)
  • Serving as a resume-reviewer for OWU students and/or Alumni
  • Hosting a student for an externship or shadowing experience

Rachel was a History Major with minors in Theater & Dance and she was involved on campus in Kappa Alpha Theta, Yoga Club, Campus Girl Scouts, Interfaith House, President’s Club, and Interfaith Service Teams. She is a certified yoga instructor and currently serves on the Women of Ohio Wesleyan (WOW) 2020 Leadership Committee.
