Biography

Dr. Melody Maxwell works as an Agricultural Attaché for USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) APHIS (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. She is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya and has previously served in Brasilia, Brazil and Dakar, Senegal. As an Agricultural Attaché for USDA APHIS, she focuses on safeguarding U.S. plant and animal health from foreign pests and diseases as well as facilitating U.S. agricultural trade. USDA – APHIS does offer research/job/internship opportunities for student; all are listed on USAJobs.

At OWU, majored in Pre-Professional Zoology and attended OSU for veterinary school. Melody was a member of the equestrian team, pre-vet club, and Kappa Phi. She also completed a Boren Fellowship.

She is happy to talk with Pre-Vet, Pre-Professional Zoology students, and students interested in working internationally about federal careers and hiring, veterinary School, non-typical veterinary careers, foreign service opportunities and life abroad, and Boren fellowships as well as other post university international opportunities.
