Biography

Kelsey Ullom (she/her) is an Assistant Director at the Center for Civic Leadership at Rice University. In this role, she partners with nonprofits engaged in social justice initiatives and development work around the world to provide meaningful and collaborative global internship opportunities for students. Kelsey also supports students with fellowship applications for international research, English-teaching, and exploratory travel.

Prior to Rice, Kelsey facilitated service-learning programs in Haiti and administered U.S. Department of State study abroad programs at the Institute of International Education. She has served as a board member for non-profits and a consultant for UNESCO’s Institute for Lifelong Learning. Kelsey holds a B.A. in International Studies from Ohio Wesleyan University and a M.S.Ed. in International Educational Development from the University of Pennsylvania.

Kelsey is  happy to work with International Studies majors, those interested in social justice and cross-cultural learning, Education majors interested in experiential or higher education, or anyone looking for guidance in forming their professional identity and its connection with public responsibility. She is interested in:

  • Speaking with a student virtually or on the phone
  • Presenting to a student organization
  • Conducting a virtual webinar
  • Mentoring a student
  • Assisting OWU Alumni (recent Alumni, or Alumni in transition)
  • Serving as a resume-reviewer for OWU students and/or Alumni
  • Participating in OWU events such as speed networking, mock interviewing, panels, etc.
  • Hosting a student for an externship or shadowing experience

Kelsey majored in International Studies and minored in English at Ohio Wesleyan. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, and participated in study abroad and choir, among other activities.
