Biography

After graduating from OWU in 2013, Allison received her PhD in Biology from Washington State University, where she specialized in computational biology. She completed her postdoctoral training at George Washington University, also in computational biology, before transitioning to a career in science policy with the federal government in 2019. Allison currently works for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC. In this role, she conducts research and analysis related to science and public health policy, with a special focus on preparedness for emerging biological threats.

Allison looks forward to being contacted by anyone interested in applying to PhD programs, applying for federal jobs, alternative scientific careers, and those interested in science policy by:

  • Speaking with a student virtually or on the phone
  • Presenting to a student organization
  • Conducting a virtual webinar
  • Mentoring a student
  • Assisting OWU Alumni (recent Alumni, or Alumni in transition)
  • Serving as a resume-reviewer for OWU students and/or Alumni
  • Participating in OWU events such as speed networking, mock interviewing, panels, etc.

During her time at OWU, Allison was involved in Women in Science, Choral Arts Society, she studied abroad at the University of Salamanca, and she worked in the greenhouse.
