Welcome to the Spring 2021 Course Page for the Food, Culture, and Society course at Ohio Wesleyan University. The plan is to use this page for public facing pedagogy – focused on three main projects in the course. The first will be a documentary film review project, the second will be a critical and social analysis of cookbooks, and the third will be a cumulative project focused on the socio-cultural representation of food in film. I hope you enjoy our work! I will include assignment instructions for each of the projects that I include on this page, so that it might be helpful for other instructors out there, particularly those in food studies! Thanks to Emily Contois, a fantastic food studies colleague and fellow member of the Association for the Study of Food and Society, for the inspiration for some of these projects, and for all of her public-facing work.
